"Whale Cathedral" was born from the idea of non-place. The intention was to give our brain the impression of being simultaneously in depths of the abyss with the cetaceans, and at the same time in a great Gothic cathedral. To do this I have used simple elements, that reported the singing of whales, divers crackles, and a great environment that "smells of incense." This conflict of two completely different environments generates a "non-place" where the mind does not know if we are underwater or inside a church.
The non-places are focused only on the present and are highly representative of our age, which is characterized by the absolute precariousness (not only in the field of work), the provisional, transit, and by the passage of a solitary individualism. People pass in non-places but nobody lives there. Perhaps the whales, who travel for miles and miles in our seas, would have something to teach us about the transition to a place and at the same time be able to make it their home.

Dall'idea di nonluogo è nato "Whale Cathedral". L'intenzione è stata quella di dare al nostro cervello l'impressione di trovarsi contemporaneamente nelle profondità degli abissi insieme ai cetacei, e nello stesso tempo in una grande cattedrale gotica. Per fare questo mi sono servito di elementi semplici, che riportassero al canto delle balene, ai crepitii subacquei, e ad un grande ambiente che "profuma di incenso".
Questo confitto tra due ambienti completamente diversi genera un "nonluogo" in cui la nostra mente non sa se siamo sott'acqua o dentro una chiesa.
I nonluoghi sono incentrati solamente sul presente e sono altamente rappresentativi della nostra epoca, che è caratterizzata dalla precarietà assoluta (non solo nel campo lavorativo), dalla provvisorietà, dal transito, dal passaggio e da un individualismo solitario. Le persone transitano nei nonluoghi ma nessuno vi abita. Forse le balene, che viaggiano per miglia e miglia nei nostri mari, avrebbero qualcosa da insegnarci in merito al transitare in un luogo e contemporaneamente riuscire a farne la propria dimora.
